I have found Alka Kaminer’s chair yoga class so beneficial. Her exercises for all parts of the body, while sitting in a chair do work. One example: the arthritis in my hands has lessened considerably. Her classes are great. – Barbara Kleinman

After spending many years of my childhood in a dentist’s office, 3 times a week, I developed an absolute phobia about going to the dentist. Even having a cleaning was horrible for me and I always had nitrous oxide to help with my anxiety and fear. I have been studying under Alka and doing deep breathing exercises and trying to practice every day. Last week I went to the dentist and they offered me the laughing gas. I hesitated and said let me try on my own. (The dentist was shocked) I did deep breathing and meditation and for the first time in years, did not need ANY medicinal intervention. I owe it all to Alka. She is a beautiful person, inside and out, and she has helped me a great deal. I use the deep breathing technique every day and it is helped me a lot in so many different ways. Alka is a wonderful Yoga instructor; honestly, this is the first time ever that someone “got through” to me as far as “how to breathe” in a manner that does actually relieve stress and anxiety.
